About the Seminar

Join us for an overview of S.P.I.R.E., an Orton-Gillingham based reading intervention program designed for your struggling readers, students with dyslexia, and nonreaders. SPIRE builds reading success through direct, explicit, and systematic instruction in phonological awareness, phonics, spelling, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.

In this half-day seminar, you will learn about:

Presenter - Karen Painter

Karen Painter is a certified special education teacher with 17 years of reading instruction as her area of interest. Nine years of that includes teaching S.P.I.R.E. Karen earned a Masters Degree in Education with a specialty in Special Education from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. When not teaching her daily SPIRE group, Karen travels to conduct professional development workshops for EPS, training teachers and administrators in SPIRE.
